About Talia Scott
Resident and native to Houma, Louisiana Talia Scott is one of the co-founders of the Louisiana Delta Homeschool Association. She is the wife to her husband of almost 9 years and mother to two beautiful red heads. After spending many years in the traditional school system earning her Associates of Science and Bachelors of Science Degrees from Nicholls State University, she went on to be a nationally registered and state licensed paramedic and later a teacher in the private school system. After the birth of her first child, she opted take on the position of Chief Operations Officer for the Scott household, and with that began research into the world of homeschooling. With the support of her understanding and open minded husband who believed that “there had to be a better way” to educate their children than the traditional classroom environment, she spent the next three years reading countless books, researching curriculums, and attending national homeschool conventions preparing and educating herself until she found the Charlotte Mason Method of Homeschooling. With that she found her passion for the education of her children. With the belief that children should be “trained up in the way that they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6) and “that you shall teach them (God’s word) diligently …when you sit at home, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise” (Deut. 6:7) she was convinced that traditional education could not accomplish this and that homeschooling was the right option for her family. Through the years she has held tightly to her faith in Jesus and would not be where she is today without the support and prayers of her family and friends.
